Escarlata

A distillate of sound thoughts and poetic acts that interact to form a lyrical and provocative collage. All to question the role and future of laughter and freedom in our society.

It is a transformation, a movement that alters our body, sets muscles in motion that we didn't even know existed and uncontrollably changes our face... We are talking about laughter, a moment when everyday life and everything around it fades away, making us wiser, more humble, and liberating us. Laughter is freedom. This is the opinion of Bet Miralta and Jordi Aspa, the souls of a company that, in this show, invites us to rediscover our personal relationship with laughter and to discover whether laughter and freedom are in danger in our times. Escarlata will make you enter a dimly lit space in groups of thirty-two people. You will enter the site by creating and handing over an object, and once inside, you will take part in a series of poetic acts that will take you on a journey through the universe of laughter. Smoking papers that dance, helium balloons, laughing gramophones... You'll find it all in this show where you are warned that laughter is freedom... but it can also become a control mechanism.

Escarlata, a company with over thirty-five years of history, has created a new personal interpretation of the circus world. We saw them at the Grec 2012 with Llenties i marabú, Devoris Causa, and Pugilatus, and they celebrated the company's twenty-fifth anniversary with CorroC at the Grec 2017.
