Winner of the 2005 National Dance Prize, Israel Galván is a leading figure on the flamenco scene today, having developed his own, personal style that – without fusions of any kind – drinks from classical sources whilst remaining absolutely innovative. This show, which takes the basic vocabulary of the genre to extract the essence of flamenco music, cante and baile, provides a perfect illustration of the Golden Age referred to in the title, which alludes to one of the great periods in the history of classical flamenco. In La edad de oro, Galván reveals a pure, intimate, austere style, practically naked and always precise, with even a touch of humour, featuring references to both the great flamenco masters and outstanding contemporary figures.
