The Klezmatics

  • Música

The music of the Eastern European Jews is the sound base of a band who celebrates thirty years of career by touring its new album, a work called Apikorsim - Heretics.

This performance has been cancelled.

With this work, the band shows once again that, far from representing a kitsch and nostalgic revision of the sounds of other times, Klezmer music is very much alive in its hands and has a prominent role in the current world music scene, and even more when it comes to manage to sound in new languages and give  messages directly related to our time. Hence the name of the album, Apikorsim, which in Yiddish refers to the heretics, the rebels, those who question what seems established. And the six members of this band, who for the first time appear alone and without any special guests, sing both in Yiddish and in English, launching messages that invite Humanity to build a better world. With a purer and more authentic sound than ever, the band continues to talk about contemporary issues (from human rights to the fight against religious fundamentalism) while letting their Klezmer musical base indulge in the sounds of Arabic, African and Balkan music, but also the rhythms of jazz and even punk. A new release of a band that has become famous for its musical creations, wild, provocative, reflective and especially danceable.
