How can one present an in-depth, artistic vision of the infinite data of the information age? For most, this would be an impossible task. For an electronic artist like the Japanese creative genius Ryoji Ikeda, however, the answer takes the form of a whole project, featuring cinematic concerts, installations and publications in which he explores the vast data universe. Acclaimed by the critics as one of the most radical and innovative composers on the contemporary electronic music scene, Ikeda will present his audiovisual concert datamatics at the Grec’09 Festival de Barcelona. Datamatics is a show in which the artist pushes the possibilities of technology to the limit, extracting true poetry from zeros and digits ones, digits ones and zeros.
