Music, poetry and outstanding virtuoso ability: these are just some of the ingredients in the contemporary Catalan circus show most seen worldwide. Twelve years later, this long run ends in the city where it premiered with a performance at the Teatre Grec.
France, Italy, Switzerland, Norway, the United Kingdom, Israel, Japan... Circus Klezmer has been seen in all these countries and more since its premiere in Barcelona in 2004. Circus Klezmer is a show inspired both by the joyful sounds of music by Central European Jews and the brightly-coloured paintings of the artist Marc Chagall. Both elements are present in this festive show, a celebration that takes place during a wedding at the very heart of our continent at an unspecified moment in history. During the ceremony, the characters run into all kinds of problems and obstacles, but resolve them all cheerfully. Bottles, chairs, dishes, tables... The artistes use countless everyday objects to demonstrate their extraordinary skill as they construct an enthralling story that speaks of love and hate, that joy and that sadness which we have all experienced at one time or another. Contemporary circus, theatrical poetry and festive music are fused in a show that ends its final tour by filling the Teatre Grec with life and humour. Don’t miss this chance to see Circus Klezmer, because some of the great artistes who have formed part of the cast over the years will also appear in these farewell shows in the Catalan capital.
