Have you ever seen a ballerina fly, perform with crutches or dance on points on the palm of a hand? Contemporary dance at its most surprising.
At last, the Compagnie Marie Chouinard, a phenomenon in the world of the most innovative contemporary dance, makes its debut on the Barcelona stage. You will see what you have been missing all this time when the Canadian company performs a choreography based on Glenn Gould’s reinterpretations of Bach’s Goldberg Variations. In this piece, though, the dancers are accompanied by Louis Dufort’s Variations on the Variations, not only with the music but also by a reinterpretation of words spoken by the renowned pianist in a radio interview. However, what is really most innovative in this production is the dancers’ impassioned exploration of the human body and its limitations, using harnesses, prostheses that transform their movement and crutches that, far from fettering them, actually liberate them.
