NEIMHAIM AND THE JING EMPIRE: THE WORLDS OF ARANZAZU SERRANO AND BELÉN MARTÍNEZ
They’re two of the most popular Spanish-language fantasy authors, but with Neimhaim and the Jing Empire, they’ve also become two great world-builders whom the 42 Festival has decided to bring together for the first time. First, Aranzazu Serrano from Madrid will arrive with a forthcoming book: Neimhaim. La loba blanca [Neimhaim: The White She-Wolf], the successful Viking saga that started with Neimhaim. Los hijos de la nieve y la tormenta [Neimhaim: Children of Snow and Storms] and Neimhaim. El azor y los cuervos [Neimhaim: The Goshawk and the Ravens]. As such, it will be the eagerly anticipated first public event for the new instalment. Meanwhile, Belén Martínez from Cádiz got her first taste of success with El vals de la bruja [The Witch’s Waltz], and pulled it off again in Sangre de dioses [The Blood of Gods] and her recent Placeres mortales [Mortal Pleasures], set in the Jing Empire. Beyond these mythical, exotic worlds, both authors have created strong female characters with complex plotlines full of twists and turns, earning them a growing legion of followers. Cristina Parrales, known on social media as Cris T. Nash, will be tasked with leading this event for both devoted fans and newcomers, and it’s honestly hard to know which group is more worthy of envy.
