Albert Villaró
Albert Villaró, born in La Seu in 1964, is a writer and historian. Following his parodies Les ànimes sordes [Deaf Souls] and Obaga, he published fiction works set in contemporary Andorra: Blau de Prússia [Prussian Blue], which won the Carlemany Award, L’escala del dolor [Pain is a Staircase]; and La bíblia andorrana [The Andorran Bible], which won the Prudenci Bertrana Award. Other novels, such as L’any dels francs [The Year of the Franks] and La primera pràctica [The First Practice], and especially the uchronias Els ambaixadors [The Ambassadors] (which won the Josep Pla Award) and El sindicat de l’oblit [The Syndicate of Forgetting] share as their common thread a fanciful reworking of the past. His historical fiction novel La Companyia Nòrdica [The Nordic Company] received the 42 Award. In 2024, he’s published YA work Tercer origen, [Third Origin], a tribute to Manuel de Pedrolo’s classic Mecanoscrit del segon origen [translated into English as Typescript of the Second Origin].
