What does culture smell of? In the writing workshop directed by Eloy Fernández Porta
olorcultura.jpg
Is the artist always on holiday, as Roland Barthes suggested, or, as Boris Groys has stated more recently, does he always produce a culture that smells of work, work and more work? This culture that smells of sweat, is it culture? Have stress and tiredness perhaps become the only current forms of respectability? Starting with these questions we shall propose a critical reading of some traits of the figure of the artistic creator in immaterial capitalism, as a producer, as a self-employed person with no job security or as a guy who was born tired but does not stop.
Readings: José Luis Molinuevo, Mutaciones en arte y literatura: Del creador al trabajador (Archipiélagos). Peter Handke, Ensayo sobre el cansancio (Alianza).
Workshop in Spanish and Catalan.
