Talk and discussion with Mari Luz Esteban and Joana Masó

Activity linked to the seminar Love for what? Changing love to change everything? of the exhibition Kao malo vode na dlanu (Like a little water in the palm of the hand), a project about love in Serbia, by Mireia Sallarès.

Can a woman exist without laying claim to love? The more a woman nurtures the more she contributes to her economic impoverishment and her lack of social recognition. Mari Luz Esteban also alerts us to how certain social movements, even within feminism, affirm love as an alternative to conflicts and forms of inequality that are in fact fuelled by love. What networks of friendship and mutual support can we construct to break this circle?

Mari Luz Esteban. Professor of Social Anthropology at the University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU), she is the author of Crítica del pensamiento amoroso [Critique of amorous thinking] and coordinator, with Jone M. Hernández, of Etnografías feministas [Feminist ethnographies], both published by Bellaterra.

Joana Masó. The curator of this exhibition. Professor of French Literature and Gender Studies at the University of Barcelona, she is preparing an essay on value.​
