'remor renou': Laura Llaneli and the Sant Andreu Municipal School of Music
remor renou is an interpretation, in the form of musical piece, of the text created by Laura Llaneli, in the first stage of the Uncomfortable programme, based on the noise of the building work. It is a text that is at the same time a music score that wants to be reinterpreted. The idea behind this second stage is to use the text to return the sound: remor renou begins with the noise of the city, converting it into text and returning it to sound but this time, instrumental sound.
This new piece is the result of a collective creation process by the artist and students from the Sant Andreu Municipal School of Music, which will occupy the Fabra i Coats space, where the Art Centre was, once the work has finished.
The groups that have collaborated are formed by students of different origins and of ages between 14 and 19 years: a saxophone quartet, a percussion ensemble and a band, made up of electric and base guitars, piano, voice, drums and trumpet. The sessions with the Sant Andreu Municipal School of Music began in February and have been a collective experimentation process of techniques and artistic languages so that the students involved could learn new ways of making sound with their instruments, at the same time as reaching a final result in tune with the original idea.
The idea wasn’t to remain faithful to the original sound on which each phrase of the text Llaneli created for the Uncomfortable programme was based, rather to be a starting point that would evoke a new sound.
The concert will take place at the Board Room of the Art Centre. Third floor.
