Process // Exhibiting an expo
Process
Workshop which is based on the narrative possibilities of a contemporary art exhibition, turning ESO students into a legitimate voice to describe and to accompany the visitors. Based on the observation of the exhibition and the sharing of readings, the students will become a mediating figure who will devise, write and carry out a guided tour open to the public.
The objective of the activity is to break prejudices about contemporary art and to stimulate the sensitive experience, autonomy and critical analysis of the young people who participate in the activity. From the irony and apparent simplicity of conceptual works, and connected to languages and formats that young people identify with -such as the cinematographic-, 'Cracking a nut' proposes that they free themselves from a passive and compulsive gaze. It is a challenge in their role as spectators. Looking, wondering, thinking and sharing impressions will be part of an open and participatory learning process.
What does what they see represent? Does it resemble reality? We will realize that Lúa Coderch works' reveal new questions. Students will find out that there are many points of view and many layers of meaning in the images: the work itself, the artist, the background of each viewer, the context in which the work is placed, etc. And this learning is fundamental when building a story about the exhibition. How will we explain it? How do we transfer our perceptions and reflections to a communicative dimension, interacting with visitors?
