A three-way conversation to explore the cultural policies in specific contexts and from different institutional spheres, about the relationship between art, education or various forms of mediation. Projects, experiences and proposals that builds hybrid spaces.
The ways of constructing, using and inhabiting culture display a wide variety of forms and manners of directing and managing cultural institutions. From informal, emerging, base or self-managed spaces to major city or national facilities and institutions. Within the context of the Living in-between project currently running at the Fabra i Coats Contemporary Art Centre of Barcelona, the centre has programmed a series of inter-crossing conversations between people who, either independently or linked to institutions, can offer diverse viewpoints, experiences and knowledge.
With the title Own Rooms – in tribute to the book A Room of One’s Own , by Virginia Woolf – we aim to open up spaces for debate, conversation, crossovers and distances between different ways of thinking about our own rooms in culture: how they relate to each other, what it is advocated that they should contain, or who can inhabit them and for what uses.
The series is presented on a regular basis once a month, with brief interventions by the guests and a debate open to all those attending.
