Hidrogenesse Concert
Sunday 8 October at 12.30
As part of the City of Sand exhibition, Hidrogenesse have composed and produced a song, which is the soundtrack for the first floor of the venue. The piece of music, a suite of nine micro-songs, accompanies the videos with news articles selected by David Bestué from the La Vanguardia newspapers. The different verses refer to some of the headlines, always from a perspective of humour and absurdity. In this context, and just a few days before the exhibition closes, Hidrogenesse will perform a concert in the City of Sand exhibition space.
Hidrogenesse are an electronic art-rock duo, composers of populist pop songs, producers of romantic-sexual mantras, authors of situationist dance floor fillers and performers of the mystic-comic genre. Hidrogenesse are Carlos Ballesteros and Genís Segarra. They are used to performing at small independent venues and huge festivals, in museums and bars, cultural centres and even on the street. Their first releases were the singles Así se baila el siglo XX (2000) and Eres PC Eres Mac (2001). In 2002, they released their first album Gimnàstica Passiva (2002), which gave them certain national recognition. With the release of their second album, Animalitos (2007), Hidrogenesse confirmed their talent and succeeded in giving shape to their artistic ambitions. Since then, their discography has increased with the release of albums Un Dígito binario dudoso. Recital para Alan Turing (2012), Roma (2015), Joterías bobas (2019) and ¿De qué se ríen los españoles? (2020).
