Production and Artistic Research
UNIVERSITAT DE BARCELONA
MIREIA DE JUAN - ENRIC FARRÉS - MARTA JUVANTENY
ÀLEX PALACÍN - TERESA PERA - LUCÍA ROYO
This exhibition presents the results of the work carried out by the post-graduate students completing their Masters in Production and Artistic Research at the Universitat de Barcelona, as part of the Art and Intermedia Contexts subject. Focussing particularly on supporting experimental forms of artistic practice, it emphasises critical thinking and encourages the development of regenerating processes for research on the arts.
The final projects exhibited manifest the plurality of expressions of discourse that arise from a strong desire to permeate materiality so as to critically identify the world. The intermedia projects by this year’s group of young creators confront the dialectic of dematerialisation and question the new awareness of virtual time, at the same time as absorbing the ontological time of things. From other approaches, they dislocate their functions, explore the intersubjective friction and provoke interferences with the actual exhibits.
As has occurred over the past three years, some of the students have been residents at the Fabra i Coats Art Factory, where they have carried out their final Masters projects. The purpose of the collaboration between ICUB and UB is to make the transfer of artistic research effective and to open up the necessary forms of cultural permeability for its results. The post-graduate students have therefore been able to share the final artistic production stage of their university studies with other local and foreign residents, whilst obtaining visibility within the cultural fabric of the city.
The exhibition will be held on the second floor of the Contemporary Art Centre of Barcelona between 15 June and 23 July, 2017.
Inauguration: Wednesday 14 June at 19:00
