Dolly (or Bodies, Images and Politics) - Laboratory
Vitaliti eth20-22_ona.jpg
Dolly was the first mammal cloned from an adult cell. 'Dolly In/Out' is a camera movement that shifts between subject and context, or the other way around, one which always requires a manual re-focus.
'Dolly' is an experimental space that deals with how bodies and images move and mutually affect each other. We will use pornographic or biomedical imagery, for example, and view the images-bodies as complex/curious amalgams that overwhelm what is representational.
Ona Bros. Visual artist, researcher, pornographer and raiser. She focuses on the political attention of images as catalysts for semiotic-technical-material networks. Her work is situated and “embodied”, always investigating based on what is experienced and its relationality, in a queer inhabitation and a transfeminist sensitivity. Her work interrogates taboo as a densely veined social zone, rife with imaginaries. She is a co-founder of various collective projects, such as IEP: Instituto de Estudios del Porno and FUGA. Currently, based on her gestational experience, she is investigating the discourses around genetics in the context of global biomarkets.
Her work has been exhibited in spaces such as Nogueras Blanchard, La Casa Encendida, ACVic among others and she has participated in various programmes and residency spaces, such as the Dutch Art Institute, the DONE, Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics meeting (Lima), Hangar and Hamaca, La Caldera and La Poderosa. She has obtained various grants, most recently the 7th Hangar-Banc Sabadell 2022 research grant.
