Legend has it that a woman sounded the bell in the Torre del Rellotge right up to the last moment to frighten the army and give her companions time to escape to Vallcarca before the army entered Gràcia. This is the story of the Levy Uprising, which took place in the Vila de Gràcia in April 1870. It was an uprising started by women, mothers and fighters who were unable to read and write but who understood loss, injustice and freedom. We can now hear their voice.
