This book is much more than the history of the thirty-three municipal markets built in the 20th century and at the start of the 21st. It looks back at over one hundred years of history in the city, from the first market that was built when Sarrià was still a separate town, to the latest additions, in Fort Pienc and Marina, constructed this century. It also underlines the importance of markets in the fabric of the neighbourhoods, with the arrival of the democratic City Hall, in 1979. It also remembers the markets that are no longer standing, but that in their day played an important role in our city.
