The Societat Doctor Alonso has been directed by Tomàs Aragay and Sofia Asencio since 2001. One of the key aspects of the language he has created is the concept of displacement, of situating something outside its own place, sphere or space in order to investigate how this displacement modifies language.
This manoeuvre of displacement is an effective way of generating spaces of poetic discourse that question the status quo of our understanding of reality.
Tomàs Aragay is a dramatist and actor. He studied Stage Direction and Dramaturgy at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona. In 1996 he founded General Elèctrica, a centre for artistic creation, with Roger Bernat.
Sofia Asencio is a dancer and performer. She has worked with various dance companies, including that of Vicente Sáez, Lanónima Imperial and General Elèctrica. She has also created and directed dance and performance projects.
