This communication is based on the doctoral thesis “The self-representation of the hijab in YouTube videos in Spain: discourses and practices of their creators in the platform‘s digital environment”. It focuses on how platforms provide minority communities with opportunities for access, creation and the distribution of media content (Papacharissi, 2018), while also, due to the way they are configured, modulating the discourses towards commercial media practices.
