Analitzarem algunes de les òperes més importants del s. XX, centrant-nos en el cant del cigne del gènere i les seves manifestacions més destacades de la primera meitat de segle, caracteritzada per un enfrontament entre la tradició i la modernitat. Va ser un moment clau en el desenvolupament del gènere atès que és quan es produeix una desafecció cap a les formes tradicionals per a la recerca d’un nou llenguatge. Mitjançant l’estudi de les principals obres, analitzarem els canvis formals, socials i musicals, i parlarem dels trets característics de cadascun d’elles.
