Emotional education at school for children aged from 3 to 5

14/04/2021 - 13:21 h

Childhood. The emotional education programme ‘1, 2, 3, emoció!’ is under way at 56 schools.

The Barcelona Public Health Agency (ASPB) is promoting emotional education at city schools with ‘1, 2, 3, emoció!’, a programme aimed at children aged from 3 to 5.

The ‘1, 2, 3, emoció!’ programme works on the expression of feelings among children aged from 3 to 5, the goal being to prevent risks in behaviour and help young children gain the skills to manage their emotions. The initiative offers activities to engage in during the course of the school year in the classroom, the school environment and the family setting, exploring areas such as self-esteem, justice, bullying, loss and death.

Teaching teams implementing the programme will use online resources provided by the ASPB to work on basic emotional education and emotional skills. The results of the assessment by the ASPB show that ‘1, 2, 3, emoció!’ considerably improves the emotional skills of children and teaching staff alike.

The programme has been started at 56 schools, with 3,200 young children taking part. It is available for any public, private and state-subsidised private schools with year groups for children aged from 3 to 5.
