Once the nominations of 22 companies have been received and assessed, the awards of the 9th Barcelona Award to the Innovation Company in Organization and Time Uses will be presented on 15 June in the Mediatic building. This year, the emphasis will be placed on a virtual and presential working model in the digital age for companies, aspects which, although they were important before, take on particular relevance in Covid-19 time.

The crisis generated by Covid-19 has put us in front of a different challenge in terms of organising ourselves and organizing the uses of time. The productive sector has had to rethink the modalities and the working spaces and to promote innovative working time policies and measures. The award ceremony will be held in the New Challenges of a Virtual and Presential Work Model session, both events aim to recognize precisely the task of the companies involved in improving the management of time to achieve the reconciliation of work, family and personal life.

The award has different recognitions. The jury, made up of expert persons and representatives of the economic, business, trade, trade union and the relevant academic world in the city, will reward companies according to different categories:

  • Micro: companies of less than 10 workers.
  • Small: companies of 10 to 50 workers.
  • Average: companies from 50 to 250 workers.
  • Large: Companies from 250 workers.

There will also be a special mention of a NUST Network (New Social Time Uses) company.

The Joint New Challenges of a Virtual and Presential Work Model, in which the awards will be delivered, will begin at 9:30 and will be streamed. The welcome will be held by the Barcelona job promotion and policy commissioner Raquel Gil and council manager Sara Berbel. TVE journalist Aina Galduf will lead the event.

Next, Leyre Octavio de Toledo, Executive Director of Architecture. Head of OCCUPY Solutions Savills Aguirre Newman. Architect from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Master in Urbanism and Land Planning and Master for the IESE in Leadership for Management, will you impart the conference To a new working model and now what do we do with our spaces?

Shortly after the 10th, Mònica Vázquez Rigueiro, Director People Area of Suara Sccl Services, Laura Zapata Gonzalez, Manager Labor Relations of the Real Automobile Club of Catalonia, and Eva Arcos, Manager Healthy & Safety at GAES will discuss the challenges of the virtual and in-person model.

Once the dialogue table is completed, at 10:50, the winners of the 9th Barcelona Award will be known. With all the awards handed over, the first Deputy Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, will make the conclusion of the event.

The event will be streamed online. To view the conferences and the awards ceremony it is compulsory to fill the enrollment form.

The 2020 will be the ninth edition of the award, created to promote and publicly acknowledge the efforts and best practices of companies in the use of time. The pandemic has made organisational change essential, which was already necessary to advance gender co-responsibility and the reconciliation of personal and working life.

The award also seeks, since its creation in 2012, to generate a bank of best practices in the field of time and reconciliation of businesses and to raise the awareness of the importance of good time management.
