The municipal economic promotion agency has opened a new information point for certifying professional skills. This will enable more people to obtain an official certification that will improve their employability.
By launching this new information point, part of its Training and Qualification of Professionals system (FPCAT), Barcelona Activa joined the two hundred authorised centres throughout Catalonia that certify professional skills.
The information point can be contacted by telephone on 608 573 263 or by email at porta22@barcelonactiva.cat, to ask for an online or in-person appointment. The team of counsellors will be able to address your request at the Porta22 employment information centre, at the El Convent youth employment centre or at any Activa space in the neighbourhoods. The certification service is online and free of charge.
The official certification of professional skills is based on the individual demonstrating what they are capable of doing, based on their professional experience or unofficial training. These skills are linked to over two hundred certifications of professional standards and vocational training degrees in different sectors and professional areas.
The service is aimed at people who have acquired professional skills through various channels throughout their lives: work experience, civic, social or community participation, and unofficial training. The process recognises the individual’s expertise through an official certificate. The service is also aimed at companies, which can encourage their employees to maintain their skills and knowledge and stay up to date in their field.
Either before or during this process, Barcelona Activa will be able to provide people with professional guidance to help them enrol or make decisions regarding future training and career paths, as well as help them identify the skills that they have and that they can certify in order to expand their job opportunities.
