Barcelona Cares makes the work of care visible on March 8

Participates in the "Dialogues in Feminist Economics" in the "Cycle of Dialogues in Feminist Economics" in the Eixample on March 14 at 6.30 pm, where the care work will be made visible.

March revolves around a very significant date: 8M, International Women’s Day . It is a date for advocating for gender equality in all aspects of our society. Different public institutions, entities, groups and organized residents of the city have prepared activities around different topics related to gender inequalities and how to combat them.

With a clear transformative and feminist vocation, Barcelona City Council wants to promote a set of actions, programs and proposals that contribute to socializing the responsibility of care , recognizing its social value and guaranteeing that the The right to care and to be cared for occurs in conditions of dignity and quality.

Barcelona Cuida joins the commemoration of March 8 with its participation in the second session of the “ Cycle Dialogues of Feminist Economics in the Eixample. Social care and the pandemic: a feminized and precarious sector ” ,.

The cycle will reflect on the feminist economy and highlight the care work , the division of labor by sex, the inequalities it generates, such as has affected the Covid-19 pandemic and proposals, resources and services that put care at the center of life will be unveiled.

The conference will be attended by Pedro M Moreno Abellán , a law graduate and postgraduate expert in socio-labor insertion and legal adviser to the Barcelona Cuida municipal service and Wendy Espinoza , a member of the cooperative Mujeres Pa’lante . It will be led by Sílvia Bofill Poch , anthropologist, professor at the University of Barcelona, ​​specialist in economics and care systems.
