Self-care is defined as “a set of actions performed by a person to maintain their life, health and well-being”, according to the Termcat Nursing Dictionary. With the aim of promoting it, Barcelona Cuida, in collaboration with VilaVeïna de la Marina del Port, carried out an activity with a group of mothers from the Mans a les Mans Organization.
Participants learned about resources and services that work for good family reconciliation and care, as well as recognizing and valuing self-care. The session was divided into four parts, an activity of relaxation and body awareness through dance and movement techniques; a participatory and experiencial dynamic in small groups about the bonds and emotions generated by care, an activity to learn about resources and services that practice self-care and a final space for shared experience around these topics.
One of the key points of the activity was to discuss and work on the recognition of self-care actions and to make known all the existing facilities, services and programs in the neighborhoods and in the municipal area that support parenting. and self-care such as women’s groups, school review spaces, children’s leisure spaces, or shared parenting spaces.
