Camilla van Deurs

Born in Jutland, Camilla van Deurs is an Architect MAA. and Ph.D. from the Royal Danish Academy - Architecture. She has researched urban life in residential areas and written several books and contributions to books on the subject of sustainability. Camilla van Deurs is a partner and is responsible for Strategic Urban Planning at the Nordic Office of Architecture and is an adjunct professor of urban planning at the Aarhus School of Architecture. From 2019-24, Van Deurs was the city architect in Copenhagen Municipality and led the execution of Copenhagen as the UNESCO-UIA World Capital of Architecture 2023. She chairs the Advisory Board at The Royal Danish Academy - Architecture and is a diversity ambassador for the Danish Association for Responsible Construction. Before joining the City of Copenhagen, Van Deurs was a partner at Gehl Architects, a board member and vice-president of the Danish Architects Association and an external professor at the University of Copenhagen.
