A choreography of three hundred drones will illuminate Barcelona's sky
19/09/2024 - 08:00 h
The Espigó del Gas will be the stage for "Formes de Barcelona", a technological show designed exclusively for the city.
La Mercè arrives with an unprecedented light show that will leave you speechless for sixteen minutes: Formes de Barcelona, a collaboration between ICUB and the specialised company Flock Drone Art. For two consecutive nights, on 22 and 23 September at 10 p.m., the Barceloneta beach will be filled with light, music and colour with no less than three hundred drones that will draw a show tailor-made for Barcelona.
The drones will link up and move in synchrony to the rhythm of original music, creating an aerial choreography that will begin with basic geometric shapes, such as circles and squares. As the show progresses, these shapes will gradually transform into architectural wonders of the Comtal City. The geometric shapes and symbols of Barcelona will create a visual narrative that celebrates the interrelation between art, architecture and urban space.
Flock Drone Art debuted last year at La Mercè to great public acclaim. For this reason, this year two nights have been programmed instead of one, with the aim of accommodating more people and avoiding overcrowding. This will undoubtedly be one of the most magical moments of the festival, when Barcelona’s horizon will be illuminated by a dance of three hundred drones. This fusion of art and technology will explore geometric shapes and turn them into iconic symbols of Barcelona.
The XXV International Pyrotechnics Festival will be held at the same location on the two previous nights, 20 and 21 September: on Friday with Pirotècnia Fantastika from Mexico and on Saturday with Pirotècnia López from Santiago de Compostela.
Let yourself be captivated by the magic of technology, lights and drone movements in this unique visual experience. Formes de Barcelona will take place over two nights, on Sunday 22nd and Monday 23rd September. Make sure you have a good place to enjoy this choreography by Flock Drone Art, at 10 pm, at the Espigó del Gas. For more information, check the Mercè website.
