The Collector's Cabinet shows visitors a very different kind of museum without leaving the building.
Frederic Marès originally called this section the Sentimental Museum. Its current name aims to recover the tradition of the former cabinets of collectors of antiques and curiosities.
You can stroll through a total of 17 halls which are the home to thousands of curious, fascinating objects that reflect the life and customs of the past, especially the 19th century.
The layout of the collections, the names Marès gave to the rooms, the variegated presentation of the items and the intimate atmosphere that readily transports us to the fascinating world of collecting have all been respected.
