Rising sea levels are one of the most visible and threatening consequences of climate change. At L'Auditori, Mouawad and Laurier transform this concern into an immersive experience that seeks to raise awareness through the mesmerising beauty of water.

The Rising project consists of five glass lamps designed in collaboration with Murano artisans and developed using LED technology from Barcelona. Powered by a motorised system, the pieces move vertically, recreating the sun's reflections on the sea, while a spatialised sound system enhances the experience by creating an immersive atmosphere. The installation uses an abstract narrative about rising sea levels, one that, rather than stoking fear of an uncertain future, invites the observer to become immersed in active contemplation. An exercise in resilience that transforms climate anxiety into an aesthetic experience that challenges us both intellectually and emotionally.

Mouawad + Laurier is a contemporary artistic duo formed by Maya Mouawad and Cyril Laurier, who are renowned for their immersive creations that fuse nature, technology and environmental reflection. The duo are active on the international art scene, with a notable participation at the Venice Immersive Biennale, where their work stands out for its visual power and thematic depth.

Among their permanent installations, Retorn a les fonts stands out, located at a Heritage of Humanity site recognised by UNESCO, a space where their ‘sensitive machines’ capture the evolution of the climate in real time. Winners of the Pierre Schaeffer Prize, they invite the audience to explore a sensory and poetic dialogue with the environment, and to reflect on our connection with nature.
