Light of Love
2023
OFF Llum
Centre Comercial Westfield Glòries
Maurici Ginés is a regular Llum BCN participant. The co-author of the permanent lighting and interactive installation accompanying the Design Hub's esplanade, he takes his creativity a few metres from here to the Westfield Glòries shopping centre, to play with a renovated space with the well-known Mariscal aesthetic. Light of Love centres on the large-scale sculpture that the iconic designer has installed as a welcoming feature. Ginés offers a piece of light art featuring a structure lined with pieces of fabric that have an interactive light inside: a flash of light, a positive pulsation, of life; a bombardment of light and sound which interacts with the people who decide to get under this luminous skin. The more people who seek shelter in it, the more vigorously it flashes. In addition, a DJ is brought in at certain times who proposes the tune Love is in the air as a musical leitmotiv. It will be another exploration to the rhythm of the music.
Maurici Ginés is the founder and creative director of Artec Studio, an international studio operating for 25 years that uses light as a main feature for designing architectural lighting projects, artistic and light installations from its offices in Barcelona, Mexico City, Madrid and New York. Its projects are based on the creation of new perceptions and well-being. They are interactive sensory experiences, identities of light and works of light art which bring about interactions between individuals and collective ideas and explore synergies between design, art and people, with light as the medium. The process of the team led by Ginés is also noted for its constant search for the interaction which light can generate between materiality, space and individuals, how it can help us to better adapt to our surroundings and how, together with design and art, it can influence our behaviour in a positive way.
