Hajar is a female DJ who was born in Melilla and raised in her maternal city of Casablanca (Morocco), guest city at the Mercè festival this year. Passionate about music and the dance floor, she is always keen to discover the music scene of the different cultures and countries she travels too, often alone. 

In Hajar’s sets we find a unique mix of Arab electronic music, full of the percussion sounds of Gnawa music, the traditional music of Morocco, and its melodies, as well as Arab house and disco music.

Hajar usually performs in one of the upcoming bars of Essaouira, a city on Morocco’s west coast. Whenever she appears, she demonstrates her commitment to women’s representation and defending diversity in the music industry.
