Fins que surti el sol [Until the Sun Rises] is about feeling lost and misunderstood in a hostile and dehumanised world. Progress has heightened the sense of loneliness and given substance to the crisis of being. Hope is the last refuge. It's what makes it possible to face everyday life - the hope of a better job, a fairer world, a bigger house, a purer love. But hope is a double-edged sword. Hope implies waiting for something. Some say that life is what happens while you’re waiting.
Roko Banana are a rock trio from Banyoles formed in 2017 by Mak Dzinovic (guitar and vocals), Àlex Abad (drums and vocals) and Edu Rodríguez (bass and vocals). Fins que surti el sol is their third album (Aloud Music, Saltamarges, 2024), the one where the group find their definitive compositional path, with a forthright sound, exciting emotional lyrics, and a visual setting captured in four video clips for songs that have already become firm favourites with their fans. The band released their second LP in 2021 (El veïnat), which itself drew a stylistic line somewhere between rage and melodic calm, opting for an aggressive sonority with a structure more akin to math rock and modern punk. In 2022 they released Finalment Principis, an EP that consolidated their particular musical style, destined to be the soundtrack of decadence.
