74th Colles de Sardana Esportiva competition. Federació de Colles Sardanistes de Barcelona

The 74th Concurs de Colles de Sardana Esportiva (Sardana Dance Group Competition) fuses history and passion in an unparalleled day. For more than seven decades, the Federació de Colles Sardanistes de Barcelona ​​with the participation of the city's Sardanist colles (gangs), has been organizing this competition that brings together dancers of all ages and corners of Catalonia.

In this edition, the Concurs de la Mercè opens its doors to gangs from outside the Catalan capital, who will dance to the rhythm of La Cobla La Mediterrània.

The top groups from across the country will be coming together at this competition, in which the winning group or ‘colla’ is awarded a miniature Àliga de la Ciutat. If a group wins this award two years’ running or on three alternate years, they get the big prize: a miniature reproduction of the City Giants, the Gegants de la Ciutat.
