Revamp to Av. Meridiana as far as Fabra i Puig to start in 2025

The invitation to tender for the work in the section of Av. Meridiana between C/ Felip II and Pg. Fabra i Puig has been published in the Official Journal of the European Union. The project follows the design already used for the previous sections as far as Parc de les Glòries, with more space to walk in, more greenery and priority for sustainable mobility.

In the section Felip II – Fabri i Puig, the avenue will have two traffic lanes and a bus lane in each direction, a central bike lane, wider pavements, another 230 trees and 7,200 square metres of parterres.

In addition, the number of pedestrian crossings will be increased from nine to fifteen to facilitate journeys on foot between the neighbourhoods on each side of the avenue.

Central rambla in La Sagrera

The section between the streets of Cardenal Tedeschini, Pegàs, Antilles and Olesa will have a broad central pedestrian area, with meeting spaces and greenery, two one-way bike lanes (one in each direction) on each side of the central pedestrian path.

The Jardins d’Ángeles López de Ayala will also be renewed, with the children’s play area made accessible and the pavement widened between C/ Antilles and C/ Pegàs.

Space for inter-urban buses

Two bus lanes will be created between the streets of Felip II and Garcilaso, enabling seven or eight buses to stop there (urban and inter-urban).

The goal is to create an interchange for inter-urban buses to let passengers on and off easily without hindering the circulation of other urban buses.

Work in Av. Meridian in the section as far as Fabra i Puig should start during the first quarter of 2025 and take 18 months. The budget for the work is 26 million euros.
