Work to cover the Ronda de Dalt in Horta-Guinardó to start in June

The administrative steps have now been completed for the final project for the second stage, affecting the section between Avinguda de Vallcarca and the IES Vall d’Hebron. The work has long been demanded by local people and the new covered section will generate over 16,000 square metres of space to connect the neighbourhoods here.

The second stage of the work will connect to the existing covered section of the Ronda de Dalt between Avinguda de Jordà and the IES Vall d’Hebron.

The first stage in 2020 enabled 5,500 m2 to be generated for local residents as well as the creation of a 2,000 m2 photovoltaic pergola, one of the biggest in the city.

The urbanisation work on the new roof section will start in 2027, once the structure is built. It will have a central support wall, the same roof cover, service paths, six emergency exits and an integrated technical room.

New public space connecting neighbourhoods

Long demanded by local residents, the Ronda de Dalt roof cover will be over 1.5 km long, once completed, and have reclaimed over 100,000 m2 for public use. Goals:

  • Connect the city’s neighbourhoods.
  • Facilitate access to facilities.
  • Create public spaces.
  • Increase greenery.
  • Reduce atmospheric and noise pollution.
  • Renew infrastructures.
