A step closer to consolidating the youth centre at the Casa Groga in Fort Pienc
The Commission for Ecology, Urban Planning, Infrastructures and Mobility has initially approved the amendment to the Metropolitan General Plan, reordering the sites on the northern side of the Pont de Marina bridge and making a road change in Carrer de Ribes. This change in the urban planning for this area will ensure the future feasibility of the youth project in progress at the Casa Groga community centre and give the green light for the renovation of the space in question. The purpose of the amendment is to adapt planning to the current reality and provide a definitive spatial solution for two spaces accounting for a central part of the future network of green streets in L’Eixample.
The first of these is on the northern side of the Pont de Marina bridge. This is where the most important transformations will be, with more open space and new neighbourhood facilities. The existing cleaning depot will be maintained, below ground and with garden space above it. Other aspects proposed include maintaining the built front in Carrer Alí Bei, protecting existing housing and the Casa Groga being classed as a facility accordingly.
The second space is located in Carrer Ribes, between the streets of Roger de Flor and Sardenya. Plots on this site will be reorganised. The proposal is for part of this space to be classed as green space and a road change made in Carrer Ribes, between the Estació del Nord and Carrer de Sardenya. This will help consolidate Carrer Ribes as a community street around the Mercat de Fort Pienc, following the lines of the green streets and the Barcelona Superblock model. The changes will boost surface greenery by 945 square metres.
