This traditional competition, which notched up its 25th edition on 31 December, has attracted top international stars in recent years that have take the 5 km event to the highest level.

The most recent edition saw Kenya’s Beatrice Chebet set a world record in the women’s event, in a time of 14 minutes 13 seconds. Behind her, the next three women runners across the line also beat the existing record at the time: Ejgayehu Taye Haylu (14:21), Lilian Kasait (14:26) and Joy Cheptoyek (14:28).

This recognition from World Athletics reinforces Barcelona’s backing for women’s sport.

The Nose Race is one of the most popular runs and one of the most important competitions at an international level. Barcelona has worked year after year to offer a quick urban circuit that meets all the technical requisites for athletes to achieve the best possible times.

This 25th edition was a big success again, in sporting terms, participation and times alike. Other world records had already fallen in previous editions, like in 2021 when the men’s and women’s 5 km records in a mixed event were both beaten (Ejgayehu Taye with 14:19 and Berihu Aregawi with 12:50).
