Traffic restrictions for demonstrations on 8M
The demonstrations being organised for International Women’s Day will mean disruptions to mobility in the city centre on Saturday afternoon. Measures to regulate traffic will be established gradually according to crowd numbers and the evolution or the demonstrations.
The two main demonstrations are:
Demonstration by the Associació Ca la Dona, with the support of the Directorate for Feminism and LGBTI Affairs at Barcelona City Council, roughly from 5.30 pm to 10 pm:
- Assembly area: Gran Via CC, from Pl. Universitat towards the Llobregat.
- Route: Pl. Universitat – Gran Via CC – Pg. de Gràcia (central section) – Pl. Catalunya (side nearest the mountain – Besós) – Rda. Sant Pere (in the opposite direction) – Pl. Urquinaona (central section in the opposite direction) – Rda. Sant Pere (in the opposite direction) – Pg. Sant Joan.
- End: Pg. Sant Joan – Av. Vilanova – Pg. Lluís Companys (in front of Arc de Triomf).
- Bus services diverted or with limitations on routes: D50, H12, H16, V13, V15, V17, V19, 19, 22, 24, 39, 47, 52, 54, 55, 59, 63, 67, 120 and Barcelona Bus Turístic (blue route).
Demonstration by the Associació de Dones Feministes de Catalunya, roughly from 6 pm to 8.30 pm:
- Assembly area: Pl. Catalunya.
- Route: Fontanella – Via Laietana – Jaume I – Pl. Sant Jaume .
- End: Pl. Sant Jaume.
- Bus services diverted or with limitations on routes: H16, V15, V17, 47, 55 and 59.
Bicing stations in Ciutat Vella and L’Eixample affected by the routes will be out of operation for the duration of the demonstrations.
Besides these two demonstrations, another smaller demo is being held in Trinitat Nova from 4.45 pm to 7 pm, with the following route: Chafarines – La Fosca – Palamós – Sa Tuna – Aiguablava – La Fosca- Chafarines.
The City Police will be establishing the necessary traffic diversions to ensure the flow of traffic in the city and enable the demonstrations to take place safely.
