Mobility disruptions for the main demonstration on International Women’s Day
Owing to the 8M demonstration, traffic restrictions will be in place in the afternoon and evening of Friday, 8 March, affecting the districts of Gràcia, Ciutat Vella and, most of all, L’Eixample. Several bus services will be affected.Participants will gather in the Jardins de Salvador Espriu (Jardinets de Gràcia) at 5.30 pm. The restrictions will apply in the streets making up the route: the whole of Pg. Gràcia (including the Jardinets section), Pl. Catalunya (side nearest the Besòs) and Rda. Sant Pere. The march is expected to end at 10 pm, at the junction between Pg. Sant Joan and Av. Vilanova. Traffic will also be restricted in Av. Diagonal, between C/ Muntaner and C/ Bruc, and in Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, between C/ Aribau and Pg. Gràcia.
Traffic diversions will be as follows: Pg. Gràcia in the direction of the Llobregat, to use C/ Pau Claris, and in the direction of the Besòs, to use C/ Balmes and Rbla. Catalunya; Av. Diagonal in the direction of the Besòs, to use C/ Muntaner and C/ Balmes, and in the direction of the Llobregat, to use C/ Bruc and C/ Pau Claris; Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, in the direction of the Besòs, to use C/ Aribau and C/ Balmes, and in the direction of the Llobregat, to use C/ Pau Claris; Pl. Catalunya, to use C/ Fontanella, and Rda. Sant Pere, towards Pg. Sant Joan and C/ Roger de Flor.
Disruptions to public transport
Several bus services will see their routes diverted or limited during the event: D50, H12, H14, H16, V13, V15, V17, V19, X1, 6, 7, 19, 22, 24, 39, 47, 52, 54, 55, 59, 63 and 67. Disruptions may vary according to the volume of people. As part of the general strike, the metro and other bus services may be affected, but a minimum service level of 85% of usual services should be operating all day.
