The new update of the website of the Escolab programme promoted by Barcelona Science and Universities has been published today, with the proposal of activities for the next school year. The revamped portal has a new face and, with it, the management and registration system for the activities for the 2024-2025 academic year has been updated. Schools will be able to apply to take part in the draw for the activities at the start of the school year until 13 September. The draw will take place on 14 September and, subsequently, they will be free to register for those proposals that have places available, which will be allocated in order of application. In addition, research centres will be able to continue proposing activities for the draw until 13 September and, once the draw has taken place, for the rest of the academic year.

For its part, the website has renewed its appearance and some of its functionalities. The updated website includes detailed information on how to book activities, new frequently asked questions and a section of informative resources that can complement the visits of educational centres to the different facilities or research centres. It also includes a guide to the new Escolab manager to make the new features more comprehensible for research centres when adding new activities to the website. The educational centres registered in the previous manager that log in to the new platform for the first time will have to reset their password to be able to access their user profile and register for the activities of the new academic year.

As a new feature, the resources section includes a series of three short video reports that recount the experiences of three of the activities of the last Escolab edition.

About Escolab

Escolab is an initiative of Barcelona Science and Universities of Barcelona City Council, with the participation of the research centres that offer the different activities. The project opens the door to the country’s leading laboratories and research centres and offers the opportunity to dialogue with research staff working to advance society.

With more than 8,000 places for free scientific activities for students in secondary school, baccalaureate and vocational training, the project offers proposals in experimental sciences and technology, social sciences and humanities, architecture, business innovation, journalism, children’s education and sports science, among others. All of them consist of talks, face-to-face workshops or visits that allow you to see the great diversity of laboratories that exist today in Catalonia and come into direct contact with the multidisciplinary teams that work and the lines of research they follow.
