Changes to traffic circulation in the area around Sants station from July

Work is being completed to shift a large volume of motorised traffic from the side of Sants station nearest the mountain, with the change expected to be applied in July. The changes are needed so that ADIF can carry out the first stage of work at the station, which includes the enlargement of the foyer on the side in Plaça dels Països Catalans and the restitution of the square.

The work will allow the changes in circulation to adapt part of the street on side of the station nearest the sea, previously for pedestrians, and make it into a two-way traffic street, with one lane for private vehicles and one for buses in each direction, Various sections of Pg. Sant Antoni will also see changes, allowing traffic to circulate here too, and the areas where the streets of Numancia, Tarragona, Provença and Av. Roma converge. Once this work is completed, the changes in traffic flow can be applied, with the larger volume of traffic concentrated on the side nearest the sea in July.

Disruptions to bus services

The changes to mobility will also affect the routes and bus-stops of various bus services. The terminals for lines 27 and 78 will move from Plaça dels Països Catalans to Plaça Joan Peiró, where the V5 service will keep its current stop. On the side nearest the sea, the H10 line will have stops in both directions, with the 115 line will have stops in the direction of the Besòs. The stops on the 109 line will be modified so that a good connection with Sants station is maintained.

An open station, well-integrated with the neighbourhood

When the remodelling process promoted by ADIF is completed, Sants station will be better integrated with the neighbourhood, with access on both sides. The building will have a light and sustainable design, with the surrounding areas gaining 85% of space for pedestrians.
