Sant Andreu to get the largest and most inclusive cooperative housing project in Spain
The neighbourhood of Sant Andreu is to get a new cooperative housing block with 80 homes in Passeig Torras i Bages. The project is being promoted by Cooperativa Sostre Cívic, an inclusive community for people with intellectual disabilities, to be managed by Grup Cooperatiu TEB. Work is expected to get under way in 2024.The building will be on a municipally owned site and leased to Cooperativa Sostre Cívic for a period of 75 years. It will include an inclusive community of up to 25 people, with community spaces adapted for use by people with disabilities.
The project is the first agreement signed between Grup Cooperatiu TEB and Sostre Cívic with the goal of addressing access to housing and social inclusion. This is the second site to be leased to Sostre Cívic after the Can 70 project for elderly people in Sarrià, through the agreement signed between the City Council and the main non-proft housing organisations.
