Parc Sanitari Pere Virgili

Unanimous approval was given to the Special Plan for the Spatial Arrangement of the Parc Sanitari Pere Virgili, located on the site of Barcelona’s former military hospital in the city. The plan involves the spatial reorganisation around the site corresponding to the Ponent-1 building and its immediate surroundings, reserving 12,500 m2 of space for hospital and healthcare uses.

The Catalan Health Service intends to locate the Catalan Proton Therapy Centre on this site, an independent unit serving the entire network of hospitals in the integrated public healthcare system in Catalonia (SISCAT). The unit will be located in the basement, the ground floor and the first floor of the Ponent-1 building. Floors 2, 3 and 4 of the building will be used to house the EAIA services, the Day Hospital, the Home Hospitalisation service, the Home Assistance and Support Teams Programme and a research and innovation area.

The two proton therapy machines play a key role in radiotherapeutic oncology, and will be used for treatment with ionising radiation, mainly used in the treatment of cancer among children and teenagers.

Enlargement of the CAP Larrard

The Special Urban Plan for the improvement and regulation of the CAP Larrard, located at Travessera de Dalt, 79, was also approved unanimously. The plan responds to the lack of space resulting from the broader range of services at the centre and the incorporation of the CUAP Gràcia on the first floor of the building.

The primary healthcare centre will get an additional 370 m2 of floor space, with a new floor housing two new medical consultation rooms and two nursing rooms, plus a new multi-purpose booth, a new group room for health education activities, six new offices for administration, three workrooms and a multi-purpose room. In all, the CAP will end up with nearly 3,000 m2 of useful floor space.
