Rooftop cultivation project in Osaka for Expo 2025
The municipal initiative is one of 15 chosen to represent the values of the New European Bauhaus at the EU Pavilion.
Promoted by the Municipal Institute for People with Disabilities, “Horts al terrat” is a rooftop cultivation project which has been chosen to be part of the Osaka World Expo 2025, within the European Union pavilion. This international event brings together innovative initiatives from around the world to tackle major global challenges and imagine new solutions for the future.
The initiative has been recognised for its commitment to the New European Bauhaus values of sustainability, beauty and inclusion, and is sharing the space with 14 other projects from all over Europe. This new recognition comes a year after “Horts al terrat” won the EU New Bauhaus award in the category “Prioritising the places and people that need it the most”.
In a digital format and also with a physical presence, the Osaka Expo is available from 13 April to 13 October 2025. The event shows images of the projects through interactive tables that visitors can consult on site, within the EU pavilion. It is possible to follow the event on the social media and official channels of the New European Bauhaus.
With this latest achievement, “Horts al terrat” furthers its international recognition as a transformational project and European role model for urban sustainability, social innovation and accessibility.
