La Kolectiva wins the 25N Award with a project to improve purple points
The 17th edition of the 25 November Award went to the association La Kolectiva for their project “The street is ours and the party too: Guide with recommendations and good practices to improve the operation of purple points in the city of Barcelona, from an intersectional and anti-racist feminist perspective”.The jury for the 25 November Award considered that the winning project by the association La Kolectiva represented social innovation in promoting effective solutions for women’s social reality in Barcelona and complementing municipal action, focusing efforts and generating a common framework for action. The project includes an intersectional vision of the city’s existing services and stakeholders, facilitating the joint creation of ‘Purple Point’ services which are more inclusive and respectful towards the full diversity of women in Barcelona.
Every year since 2005, on the occasion of 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and within the framework of the Citizen Agreement for a Barcelona free of violence against women, Barcelona City Council gives the 25N Award to a project designed to prevent and combat male violence towards women.
This year, under the slogan “BCN, open and safe spaces”, the emphasis was on practices that help create open public spaces free of male violence towards women.
The award carries a monetary prize of 15,000 euros and the winner will get institutional support to be able to make the project a reality.
