The Crea Feina Barcelona 2024 programme will invest two million euros to drive the quality inclusive employment, with subsidies for companies and organisations taking on unemployed people under the age of 30 or research staff holding doctoral degrees, preferably in the strategic sectors set out in the Barcelona Green Deal.

The programme also offers those who get work contracts the chance of taking part in training that will help them adapt to business environments and their needs.

There are two types of subsidies:

• Crea Feina Joves subsidies promote the labour insertion of 160 Barcelona residents who are currently out of work. The amount of the subsidies ranges from 2,000 to 8,000 euros, depending on the collective in question and the type of working hours established, with higher amounts for taking on women.
• Crea Feina Investiga subsidies provide financial support for permanent work contracts for holders of doctoral degrees, with a minimum salary of 35,000 euros a year, gross. Subsidies range from 12,00 to 15,000 euros in the case of women researchers. The initiative should help an estimated 75 people access the labour market, with the number of subsidies that a single company can apply for in 2024 limited to five.

Applications can be submitted until 31 October 2024. Previous Crea Feina calls have created 1,681 quality employment openings for unemployed people since 2020, worth an overall sum of 9.95 million euros.

Help for young researchers

The measure comes in addition to the new call launched on 24 April, offering subsidies for emerging young researchers, the goal being to promote the transfer of knowledge in the city’s manufacturing sector.

Both calls have been coordinated through Barcelona Activa and the Department for Science and Universities, with a combined contribution of four million euros.
