Ten schoolyards will remain open over the entire winter break

From 23 December to 7 January, 10 schoolyards (one in each district) will open daily, providing a space for children, young people, families and the wider community to play, learn and socialise. These 10 patios will only close on 25 and 26 December and 1 and 6 January.

Each open schoolyard provides a monitoring service to open and close the facilities at the established times, help ensure they are used properly and encourage children and young people to interact and spend time with each other.

The municipal nursery schools, which also offer an open schoolyard programme, will be open during the winter break on Saturday, 4 January, in the morning or afternoon.

You can find the addresses and schedules of the open school and nursery school schoolyards here.

The regular open schoolyard service for the 2024-2025 school year will resume on Saturday, 11 January, at the 60 open schoolyards across the city’s 10 districts. The service at the 20 municipal nursery schools, which is aimed at children up to 6 years old accompanied by a family member, will also resume on the same day, with morning hours from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm, and afternoon hours from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm.

An initiative for everyone

This initiative harnesses the educational and social potential of these spaces, making them available for families, children, and teenagers to use collectively or for activities. It transforms them into safe, local spaces that can be enjoyed during afterschool hours, optimising the use of educational centres and further integrating them into neighbourhood life.
