In all, 2,742 different pieces have been recovered from this edition of the Mobile World Congress, with a value of more than 73,000 euros between them. This 26.3 tonnes of material and furniture will benefit 23 social organisations in Barcelona and L’Hospitalet de Llobregat. The Fundació Formació i Treball is responsible for collecting and redistributing the material among the participating organisations.

The reuse of materials and furniture from this year’s Mobile World Congress represents economic and emissions savings estimated at around 30,000 kilogrammes of CO2.

Donation Room started in 2016 to provide exhibitors with a platform to contribute to the local community through the donation of materials used during the event. The initiative is possible thanks to collaboration between Barcelona City Council, L’Hospitalet de Llobregat City Council, the Fundació Formació i Treball, GSMA, Fira de Barcelona and the Barcelona Tourism Consortium.
