Agreements with anti-fraud offices in Catalonia and Andalusia to fight corruption
The agreements consolidate ties with the Catalan and Andalusian anti-fraud offices to protect those reporting corruption. The two agreements will allow for the transfer of communications received via the Ethical and Good Governance Mailbox, guaranteeing confidentiality and anonymity beyond its sphere of action.- The two agreements include the mutual exchange of communication, with full guarantees on confidentiality and anonymity according to the regions’ respective powers, as well as collaboration on training activities with the possibility of drafting a specific plan for City Council staff. Both agreements also anticipate collaboration on the analysis, management and prevention of corruption risks.
The signing of the two collaboration agreements coincides with the Ethical and Good Governance Mailbox, operational since 2017, meeting all the requisites in the European directive on the protection of people communicating rights infringements in the union, known as the Whistleblower Directive. At the same time, it coincides with Act 2/2023 coming into force, regulating the protection of people reporting the infringement of rules and the fight against corruption.
